repressive, delusional, and bigot

Dictionary entries for repressive, delusional, and bigot should contain this picture

I am sure that the title of this entry will come as no surprise to any of you, but Tehran’s refusal to back down from its “peaceful” nuclear program has now reached new heights.  In an article today, Tehran said recent talks over its nuclear program were a “step forward”.  Whoever was the quotable on that phrase clearly does not understand what “step forward” means or is completely delusional.  At the meeting Iran refused to back down from its plans or even talk about backing down.  No negotiations are a step forward?

I don’t understand what is happening here.  Well, I do, but I’m still shocked.  Can we not impose economic sanctions on Iran? It is not as if they have a booming economy that could survive external pressure.  I am the first one to suggest we shouldn’t take military action against Iran.  It’s increasingly obvious every day that more military action in the Middle East is counterproductive (except in Afghanistan… if you want an explanation.. ask) because the problems we face today are a direct result of our initial interventionist policies.  If you don’t believe me, pick up a text book.  What I am suggesting here is that words only take you so far, but military action isn’t the answer.  There has got to be a “Third Way” approach we can take to this situation, but we’re going to need the G8 to step up (China would be the ideal country, but for obvious security partnership and oil trade reasons they will never do so) and get serious about Iran before this happens. Here’s to hoping…
