Remarks about his “speech” = priceless.

The New Yorker says it is satire. In response, some say this is an opportunity for the Obama campaign to attack stereotypes of him; others say it is racist and disappointing (The Ann Coulter’s of the world would probably tell you it is neither and is in fact an accurate representation of what would happen were he elected, but then again she has called Canada America’s “retarded cousin”). Obama’s campaign has denounced the cover, putting itself in the same corner as those who find it disappointing and distasteful.

I find it completely distasteful myself, but also tend to side with those that see it as an opportunity.  Haven’t really thought this one through yet because I am in a bit of shock that this is actually the cover of a prominent intellectual magazine, so I will hold off on taking a strong side.  One quick thought is that The New Yorker could have at least accompanied this cover with a title to imply the satirical nature of the artwork (if you see it as satire, that is).

Regardless of what anyone thinks, I am sure everyone who has seen the cover thought the same thing as I did… “wow”.

Wait, but what if they ask if you’re a dem… dem.. demo?

Well, after discussing it with many over the last month or so, I have finally gotten my blog up and going. I found the title of “whatever, whatever.” to be the perfect title for this blog as not only do many of you know I say this phrase on a daily basis, but this phrase truly embodies what I will write about on this blog – whatever. One day you might find general social commentary, the next day a political thought, and who knows, if you are lucky, you’ll get both on the same day. I know, amazing. Anyways, look for more posts to come in the days ahead. I hope you all enjoy this blog and read it as a way to stay in touch and keep up to date with what is going on in my life.
